What is the Canadian Dental Care Plan?

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a government initiative designed to make dental care more affordable and accessible for Canadians who may struggle to cover the costs of essential oral health care. As part of a larger effort to improve public health, this plan ensures that more Canadians can receive the dental treatments they need to maintain healthy smiles.

Who Qualifies for the CDCP?

The CDCP is available to individuals and families with a household income of less than $90,000 per year, who do not have private dental insurance. This initiative is aimed at supporting those who need financial assistance to access dental care.

How Much Will the CDCP Cover?

The CDCP will cover a portion of the costs for various dental services, depending on the treatment and the applicant’s individual circumstances. Coverage will vary based on the specific needs and financial status of each patient.

How to Apply for the CDCP

Starting May 2024, seniors aged 65 and over can apply for the CDCP online or by phone. The application process will be expanded to include other eligible groups between December 2023 and 2025. Here’s how to apply:

Dr. Magdalena de Angelis

Dr. de Angelis obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1993 and 2 years later she opened “Towngate Dental Centre”. She is a member of Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, Ontario Dental Assoc., Ottawa Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, an Invisalign Provider and a Fellow of International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

Over the past 28 years she has been providing dental treatment always striving to be on the forefront of dental technology and new dental procedures.

When I opened this office in 1995 I had a clear vision of what I want to create - a small, family oriented and friendly office where people come with no fear, anxiety of unknown, where all their concerns are taken care of carefully and in professional manner.

Outside circumstances have changed, our team members change over the years but I am happy to see that our core valuesvalues like trust, kindness, reliability and knowledge stay the same.

Doctor of Dental Surgery

Dr. Vishnu Manikumar

Dr. Vishnu Manikumar completed his dental surgery education at the University of Kerala, India in 2014. Before moving to Canada, he practiced all aspects of general dentistry in his hometown. After immigrating to Canada, Dr. Vishnu began his Canadian Equivalency process, successfully completed NDEB, and got licensed in 2020. Since then, he has been serving the people of Ottawa.

He is proficient in various areas of general dentistry including cosmetic, restorative, preventive, and surgical, and completed various continuing courses along with Oral sedation, is proud to provide all of these to the Ottawa regional community.
By using a compassionate approach and personalized dentistry, he is passionate about making patients feel at ease in our dental clinic enhancing their smiles, and improving their quality of life.
Outside of his profession, Dr Vishnu enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with his lovely wife Renya and son Riddhish.

Doctor of Dental Surgery

Dr. Nohé Sassi

Dr. Sassi completed his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at Laval University in 2013 and took some extra training to perform IV sedation at University of Toronto. Dr. Sassi’s passion is to provide dental care to those who do not have access to it. He has traveled to various locations to do humanitarian work, treating over 700 patients in Central America and Northern Canada.

When not at work, Dr. Sassi enjoys playing, arranging, and recording music, Muay Thai and Jiu-Jitsu. Dr. Sassi speaks English, French, Italian and Spanish.
